Community Service Learning

The service learning I did on Saturday 14 at Westland Mall to complete my five community hours required for my ENC1102 class was an unforgettable experience. I got there at 12:00 pm and waited to be given an assignment. After a few minutes I started seen some movement. There was Miami Dade College staff as well as students from other classes and also from mine. We started giving out flyers and applications then they gave us some brushes and water paint, so we started painting little kid’s faces .I was painting flowers, butterflies, hearts, crowns, starts, and a little girl asked me to paint a horse in her face which was so funny since I had no idea how to do that, so I convinced her with a heart and flowers and she left happy and smiling. They had games for kids with music, prizes, it was a lot of fun for them, and their happiness was reflected in their little faces. The pod cast about Harry Potter came out perfect. Our professor was wearing a rope and a hat like one of the wizards from the movie and interviewed many kids while they were getting recorded. The pod cast is going to be posted this week online and I am waiting to see because I know it was great. This experience was amazing and I am very glad I did.
