Reaction of a poem
The poem “Lying in a Hommoock at William Duffy”s Farm in Pine Island, Minnesota” is a complete comparison of a man’s life with nature. James Wright uses a lot of astonishing details to make such a complicated contrast. In my opinion this man’s life is boring and a routine, like “the black trunk” and “the cowbells that follow one another”. The emptiness of the house that he describes in the poem is the same emptiness of his existence, which looks like a waste of time, a life that does not makes sense because other people control it for him. This gentleman’s life is not what he wants it to be and in the poem he becomes aware of it.

The Dance

In this poem Williams describes the picture in a way that is easy to imagine it . He uses a lot of adjectives and verbs that explain the environment and tells exactly what the people in the picture are doing . If you look at the picture and read the poem you could even feel the rhythm of the music and the excitement and happiness of the people in the party. Also the author at the begging says “ In Brueghel’s great picture , the Kermess” and then at the end he repeats the same line, like trying to make sure that everyone understands that he loves the picture.

It is amazing how many meanings can be found in four verses . What the author is trying to say is that love is like a rose , that only lives if it is not cut from its tree . It means that when you love somebody the worst thing to do is try to own that person’s feeling , because if you try to do this the other person can get asphyxiated . It is impressive how in such a short poem a comparison of two different thing like a rose and love can give the meaning of a feeling and a word such as love.

The House of Asterion Yulaisy Dominguez
In this story the main character is describing his house and what he does to people that visit him. In my opinion this short story is amazing , because it keeps the reader intrigue about what is really going on in this story and making a whole lot of questions , like why the people are afraid of him or why he sees them and think they are weird . It is not until the end of the story that Jorge Luis Borges lets the reader know that Asterion is not a person that he is something else “Will he be a man or a bull?” “Will he perhaps be a bull with the face of a man?” “Or will he be like me?”. In this quotes Borges is letting us know that Asterion is not a man or a bull , that he is a combination of both and the interesting part about it is the way he makes it a mystery.
